Teaching Experiences and Recognitions about Health Education Between Classroom Teacher and School Nurse in Elementary School

Abstract

|
In order to investigate the relationships between classroom teacher and school nurse in teaching experiences and degree of recognition about 9 health educational subjects in elementary school, this survey was undertaken during Aug. 10-Sept. 10, 1979. The subjects were 1,035 classroom teachers and 178 school nurses from 179 elementary schools in Chonnam province.
The results were as follows:
1. The most of schools (87.2%) planned annual health education plan but health education committee was not organized in 73.2%. And because of time allotment of health education in formal curriculum was only 1%, health education was performed didactically in extracurricular time mostly.
2. In the relationships between classroom teacher and school nurse in teaching experiences and degree of recognition, the subject concerning health habit formation such as Correct Posture and socioemotional health related subject were tended to perform more and to recognize as Fundamental Subject in classroom teacher and Sex Education, Food, Disease and Accident & Prevention which related in actual health problem in school nurse. But teaching experiences and degree of recognition in both groups were positive relationships comprehensively.
3. Sex education was pointed primarily as requiring in service education in both groups and the next Disease Prevention in the group of classroom teacher, Socio-Emotional Health in school nurse.
